The Flying Rabbits Interview

JustMeMike chats with Al the Editor and Pete Small, director of upcoming video release Double Dutch, which features Kerry Marie, Lorna Morgan and Chaz.

R & D Productions presents A Fying Rabbits film Double Dutch

JMM:     Good afternoon gentlemen, and thanks for agreeing to meet with Also On Video. Since this is Al-the-Editor's office as well as his home turf, I won't ask him how his travel went to get here. Me? I flew out of New York on New Year's Day. What about you, Pete? Are you a local lad? Or do you hail from some place exotic?

Pete:     [Defensively] Who wants to know? Let's just say I'm a European and leave it at that. Right?

JMM:     Umm, thanks. We are here to talk about Double Dutch. Let's begin with Al. You and I go back a long-time; late 1997 was when we first hooked up. I first heard about this last spring. R & D had been publishing on the web for many years. How and why did R & D Productions evolve, and specifically what is your involvement in the video, and what was the inspiration to make Double Dutch?

They could be auditioning for a job as a pair of waitresses...
Girls don't walk around naked in major European
capital cities. They wear appallingly tight blouses...

Al:     It all started with a Reader Survey in R & D a few years ago, when we asked what people would prefer to see — and what not to see — in big bust videos. We got ourselves a list which included repeated requests for stuff like models talking about themselves, trying on bras, measuring each other and walking around in the street fully dressed. As opposed, presumably, to walking about the streets stark bollock naked.

JMM:     Hmm, can't remember complaining about women walking around naked. Al, the opening credits say R & D Productions present a Flying Rabbits Film — who or what is that? Are they the suits who put up the money, aka the financiers? And along those lines, what was the size of the crew, and what kind of budget did the movie have?

Al:     R & D Productions is up there in the credits to establish a link between the video and R & D. Flying Rabbits is the gang who made the video. Incidentally, they have absolutely no connection with any other similarly named production company anywhere else in the world, and we have no idea who thought of such a ridiculous name, except that we thought of it first. The Producer is named as Martin Solo, who is based in Amsterdam and put up the money.
The crew was small: the Director/Cameraman, the 1st Assistant Director, the 2nd Cameraman who was also the Video Editor, and the Production Manager. The Producer also acted as general dogsbody and gopher. The duration of the shoot was limited by Parkinson's Law, which states inter alia that work expands to fill the time available for its completion. The same law also governed the budget.

JMM:      Yup, back in the States, we call it looking busy even if you're not. Pete, you were brought in as Director. Tell us a bit about your background. Did you work in feature films, adult videos, television, commercials, or all of the above before taking the helm?

Pete:     [Guardedly] Yes, all of the above. Why not?
