This is a guide to the people and places appearing, mentioned, or alluded to in Magical Mystery Tour. It is not an index to first appearances, let alone all appearances, but it does provide a who's who and a what's where to the thread. Characters and places are listed separately.
Unlike most other character and place guides to Backstage threads, this one is not based on a new analysis of the thread but on a couple old guides I prepared for Adama for use in updating his Character Index and in mapping the Bar & Grill. Consequently, there are some differences between this guide and those of the standard type.
Character entries are much sketchier, but they provide references to the episodes in the thread where they are first mentioned, named, and appear. To be more specific, characters are referenced by first mention and first appearance, and if unnamed at first appearance, naming is also referenced. No attempt has been made to determine whether a first appearance in this thread also marks first appearance in the AddVenture.
As usual, Characters are distinguished between Author Avatars and Characters proper. Real-world persons who aren’t authors are designated as characters. Since comparatively few characters are known by both given and surname, arrangement of Characters is by name in natural order. Note too that some Characters appearing in this thread may not be named at all. Such are entered under brief one or two word descriptions if they can be identified as members of a distinctive group, as Unnamed if they can't, or as Extras if they are simple walk-ons of little or no narrative significance. Characters not named or only partially named in this thread whose full names are known from other threads are entered under their full names. Characters are not listed by title unless the title is an intrinsic part of the name. For instance, Dr. Hook is listed under D, but King Arthur is listed under A. Cross-references are generally supplied to minimize confusion.
Place entries do not cover all places mentioned, but do cover all places used as settings or of which descriptions are given in the episodes, and provide references to all episodes in the thread of descriptive significance. References indicate either that the episode's setting is in the referenced location or that information is provided about the location in that episode, or both. Unlike in the Character section, mere mention does not rate a reference (if it does, I goofed). Places are entered by name, or by brief description where a name is lacking.
The C: or P: designators appearing before each entry may be ignored; they were merely to aid the compiler in resorting entries as the number of entries grew, and are retained for like reasons in the event of later revision. --Dabbler.
