CODE OF CONDUCT

After considerable consultation, even though there is not an absolute consensus on these points, I am posting a code of conduct for those contributing to the Addventure. While these rules of conduct, I wish to encourage voluntary compliance with these rules by as many Addventurers as possible.

  1. I understand that the BE Addventure is a game with hundreds of players and that no player has any greater status within the game than any other.

  2. I agree that any episode that I contribute shall ensure that at least one thread descending from it shall allow extension by another player, and that backlinks to existing episodes do not constitute extension.

  3. I agree that I will not utilize 100% of the threads descending from any episode contributed by another player, but may contribute to a one-option episode wherever it occurs.

  4. I understand that I cannot control what other players of the game write and will not attempt to prevent others from writing nor will I attempt to control what others write.

  5. I understand that much of the material written by players of this game is offensive to the majority of people and that some of this material will be offensive to me. However, I understand that material is never inappropriate for the game, simply because it is offensive to me or other individuals.

  6. I understand that I cannot "reserve" use of a particular option for myself or another player.

  7. I understand that the following contributions to the Addventure are inappropriate and agree not to contribute:

    1. episodes which "out" authors by identifying their real-world name or their other online aliases unless written by that author

    2. episodes, 100% of whose options backlink to storyline restarts or episodes outside the thread in which the episode appears

    3. episodes which purport to be written by a player other than the individual who has written them

  8. I understand that I cannot disallow another player from participating in a thread of episodes I have written.

  9. I understand that I am engaging in this game as a "player" not as an "author" and that I do not "own" the threads to which I contribute.
