…You seem not to want things to go badly for Ryoga in this, despite inventing a device that's basically guaranteed to ruin him. He rolled low, but nothing appreciably bad for him even happened. Akane just sat in her room happily enjoying chocolate, which it seems like she would have been doing anyway. Ranma didn't even get any benefit out of it, since Akane had already thanked him. Between that and the 20 against Ranma, aren't you going too easy on him? So far, he's gotten a 15, 19, 20, 13, and then a 5 that didn't even have negative consequences for him.
The other thing is that both of you have totally played down the fact that Akane would befreaking out over what she did. She'd never even properly kissed a boy, and then she was suddenly shoving her tongue down the throat of one, right in front of her family and the boy she lo- li- …is engaged to marry? For instance: "What's wrong with me? How could I be so shameless!? And now Ranma will think I don't care about him!" Brushing it off as just another crazy day in Nerima seems pretty much impossible for her.
Rolling for stats: Having a separate die is probably not the best idea. But how about the die changes colors during stat rolls? Or not. I dunno.
Yeah messed up a little here Akane should be having a bigger meltdown but I got the context this is after then end of the series so Akane is sort of used to this stuff and the die is screwing with her a bit.
Color change... good idea Icy blue for Normal and Bright red with Black numbers for stat mode.
I've always had a liking for Ryoga since I first found Ranma 1/2. So I'd like to see him come out on top, or shack up with Ukyo in the end.
I could always go back and write from a different option?
But not until tomorrow I have class.
In my view, Akane was in turmoil of what happened when she came to visit Ranma. She was generally shocked and thankful for his surprise gift and might have brought up the topic of the kiss ... but because of the low roll, she focused more on the nice gift and enjoying Ranma's company that than bringing up the painful topic of kissing Ryoga.
If she had been made to hate Ranma's gift then she would have brought up the subject and rubbed it in on Ranma that not onky was Ryoga's gift a better one, she enjoyed kissing him as he was a real man, not a cursed-girl like Ranma.
But all-in-all, her mind was overwritten by the die and she was not completely of the right state.
Oh as far as what the die should do when it is made to turn against the roller, I think changing color makes sense.
I also got the feeling if the one learns the truth then the die could change to the red die and force them to roll and come straight back to the hand to be rolled again.
Good point LB and if your considering writing another episode here are Ryoga's unchanged stats in my opinion.
Strength 17
Intelligence 12
Dexterity 15
Wisdom 8
Stamina 18
Charisma 13
So do you think those are fair stats?
If your wondering about the low Wisdom in my opinion Wisdom is your maturity. how you use what you have, and generally using logic and rationality.
Tatewaki Kuno would have a 1 maybe a 2 and someone like Cologne would have 17 or 18.
If you'd like my take on stats go ahead and ask or comment for your own interpretation.
Those seem fare. I think you have a good definition for "wisdom" and compared to "intelligence", you make a good distinction. Wisdom is about one's experiences, learning from them, and using what you have. Intelligence is just processing power and observation skill.
And when you say "dexterity" should that be just physical or mental as well? Dexterity, at least what I just read on a dictionary site, referse to the ability to work well with one's hands in fine detail. So should a maxed dexterity allow a person to mentally pick things out in fine detail? So even if Ryoga is low on wisdom and intelligence, it would be more an instinct that "doing x now" is the right thing.
