Paragraphs do not start with lowercase letters, even if-

I think you're wrong on that one, there's no rule about paragraphs starting with a capital letter, just a rule about sentences starting with one. And this is the middle of a sentence, so no capital necessary.
But I've fixed it anyway, since you asked for it.
Well, that's how I was taught to handle that particular contstruction. At any rate, it's how I did it in another instance in the same episode…so consistency, at least, is preferable.
