A game show sprang to popularity with alarming speed. How the game started and how it worked wasn't important, what mattered was the way it played out. Five contestants at a time were teleported onto the set from wherever they belonged, whether they were a fictional character, a historical figure, a modern day celebrity or anything in between.

Each contestant would draw four words, then a live poll of the audience would decide which one word was most appropriate for the contestant, who had to go out and prove they deserved it. Where the contestant went to prove it came down to a roll of the dice, but the most intriguing part of the game was the choice of contestants. Unlike your typical show, this one only allowed one popular contestant per game. By the rules, the first four would always be contestants that got overlooked in the media.

What happened if more than one popular contestant was teleported to participate in the game at the same time?

Well.

They died.

This was also the fate of the loser of each game. At the end of the game, judgment would be placed on each contestant's performance, and the lowest ranking player would be snuffed, or at least sent into a state of limbo never to return. It gave each contestant a reason to promote themselves as something they hated.

And it just so happened that a new game was starting right now.
