Ranma knew that to make his life much less painful he had to change a person who could help him behind the scenes. The one person who has the most impact behind the scenes would be Kasumi. She could help him by listening in on Nabiki to help him avoid her money making schemes. Kasumi could also help him by giving him an alibi so his uncute tomboy fiancee would not be able to accuse him of being a cheating pervert. Not to mention the fact that Kasumi would be able to warn him of his parents' plans to force him to the altar with Akane.
And best of all no one would suspect sweet innocent Kasumi being his informant if he played it right.
'Kasumi will be my best secret friend in this house and help me out in all matters from telling me when our so-called family is plotting something against me to my homework.' Ranma thought some more and realized something. He had to give Kasumi an excuse to see him to tell him of what she would find out. 'Kasumi will ask me for training in the martial arts. Kasumi will not betray me.'
With his spy ready in the house Ranma hid the diary in his clothing and walked back to the Tendo Estate.
