The next series of surgeries focused mostly on Francis' pelvis. The large bone was broken in half and cadaver grafts were placed between the two halves to not only widen it by 4 inches, but to tilt the bone outward, as if he had been born female. With such a radical change, it would take Francis weeks just to learn how to walk again, so they also started the relatively simple surgeries on his feet.

Their first step was to shorten his Achilles tendon, which would force him to wear pumps at all times, they broke several bones in each foot, then remolded them so that his feet would have perfect arches for those excessively high heels.
