Reassigned Sharon: The Meadow

As Sharon stepped through the portal, her senses were assaulted with a rush of sights, sounds, tastes and smells; a lifetime of experience rushing by at once, leaving her numbed and senseless. She felt as though she were falling through a void, and her mind rebelled, threatening to black out.

But the rush of sensation quickly passed, and comforting stillness greeted her instead. She was still awake, and soft grass cradled her. A gentle breeze caressed her cheek and teased her hair where it draped across her face.

Sharon picked herself up slowly, taking a look around at her new surroundings. A grassy meadow spread out around her, peppered by wildflowers and bordered by lush, green trees. The setting sun cast this idyllic, hilly vale in a warm glow, and in the distance, the roofs of several buildings could be glimpsed, poking out of the canopy. Trails of smoke curled into the air as the nearby settlement lit its evening hearths.

The view was charming, and Sharon couldn't help but feel satisfied with her new surroundings. It seemed welcoming, and she longed to explore it immediately- but just as she began to take a step forward, she was immediately aware that something was amiss.

Sharon looked down at herself, and gasped at what she saw. Her new world was wonderful- but Sharon herself had changed into...
