"Well..." Jim caught his eyes falling back towards Sammie's chest. Snapping his eyes shut briefly, he covered up by turning to pace back and forth across the room slowly. Now that his gaze was safely on the floor, he could focus on what he had to say... "I've been thinking a lot about why this world works the way it works, and how things might possibly be different... Like, say, the written word." He gestured to indicate the shelves of books around them. "Why an alphebetized system? Why didn't pictograms survive? Well, more efficient this way, I'd guess, but then other things occour to me..."

Out the corner of his eye, he noticed Sammie tilt her head, curious. "Such as?"

"Why did society become like this? Was this more efficient? And what other possible systems could have worked out? Did we become like this to fulfil physical need? And what need was it that pushed us towards this?" Jim stopped pacing, closed his eyes, and tried to get more specific. "What if... Just a wild thought... What if the act of sex wasn't as common as it is now? When would that have changed? Why? And what kind of world would have come about from that one little detail?"

Jim felt Sammie step close and set a hand lightly on his shoulder. "It's alright, Jim..."
