Anna Wilcox, Marie's mother, stepped back in shock. Shiela had been an avatar... but now she was corrupted by Marie's demonic power! While Marie had been cured, Shiela was sure to change her back. But wasn't that impossible? Weren't avatars immune to demonic power? That's what she had been taught.

She panicked and ran, knowing that she needed help. If the demons were capable of turning even avatars into demons... that could change everything. Could they turn her into a demon? Impossible. But perhaps not impossible anymore.

Fortunately, Shiela was willing to ignore Anna to concentrate on helping Marie. As soon as Anna felt she was far enough away to be safe for a moment, she pulled out her cell phone and began dialing. Perhaps the church would be able to send her another avatar to help out. Or maybe two or three.

Father Beauregard Bolivar answered the phone. After listening to Anna's plight, he had bad news for her. "I'm sorry, but I don't think anyone's free to help you right now. Everyone's rather busy at the moment. But I'll send someone over just as soon as possible."

As he hung up, Anna sighed a deep sigh. She was going to have to go it alone. She sat for five minutes, trying to gather her thoughts and her courage. And just as she was planning how to combat the evils she had seen all alone... she wasn't. Alone, that is.

A strange visitor from another reality appeared: a golden-skinned huge-breasted woman wearing a tight black minidress that barely contained her huge breasts. Anna could almost make out the outline of nipple rings through the fabric of the dress.

A woman dressed like that couldn't possibly be an Avatar... could she? Anna wondered. But then, she had learned not to judge by appearances. "Are you an avatar?" she asked the new arrival.

The stranger considered the question carefully, as Anna was prepared to use her Avatar powers to tell if she told the truth or not. "An avatar? Well, some might call me such," she answered.

And while Anna could tell that this was a true answer, she didn't suspect the deeper meaning. The stranger considered that she might be an avatar, not the avatar of a deity, but rather the avatar of an author. For this stranger was Sean, the author who had taken Jim's place in one alternate reality. Since then (or at least since 337000), Sean had been traveling seemingly at random from one reality to another. She had no idea that there was a common thread to all of these realities, as they all featured episodes whose number was a multiple of 1000. Her last 1000-episode appearance had been episode 367000.

"Good," Anna replied. "I need all the help I can get, and I'm in no mood to be choosy. I've encountered a demonic force that has corrupted my daughter. Another avatar restored her humanity, but this avatar then took on the demonic curse herself! And as you know, that should be impossible, as the demonic powers aren't supposed to work on us avatars, though there are rumors of special curses that can bypass this defense..." Anna stopped her rambling as she noticed something unusual about Sean, something demonic. "Wait a minute. I sense demonic corruption in you."

Sean wondered what Anna meant, but then thought back through her various misadventures, and replied, "Oh, yeah, that must've happened at the banquet of the demon-hunters convention in Halloweentown. There must've been something in the food."

"I had better purify you before we go any further," Anna announced, and touched Sean's arm. Sean could feel a strange sensation of righteousness flow through her as the demonic curse in her was broken. The demonically-tainted oysters she had eaten would've caused her to change back and forth between male and female genders at unpredictable moments (though so far, she had only changed once, becoming female), and had increased her sex drive (though from experience, this seemed to be true only in the presence of the opposite sex). Now those demonic impurities were banished from her body. She might've expected that removing the curse would change her back into her male self, but that was not the case.

"Now, I believe we are ready," Anna told Sean.

"Too bad I left all my demon-hunting gear at Ed's house," Sean replied.

"While useful, that sort of equipment is only necessary for the mere humans who hunt demons. We have our own special powers which should suffice."

"Hmmm, yeah," Sean replied, not sounding too convinced. "Oh, wait, I've got these pills!" Sean still had most of the wishing pills that she had taken from a past reality, pills which you could make a wish on and then have the wish affect whoever then swallowed the pill. Of course, Sean could use the pills to become male again right now, but decided not to freak out Anna. Sean could always change back later.

"Pills? What do they do?" Anna asked.

Sean decided it was better not to say too much, so she told Anna a slightly altered version of the truth, something that would fit what seemed to be the rules of this particular reality. "These are, uh, pills of purity. You pray for someone's redemption over one of these pills, and if the unpure person swallows the pill, they are instantly purified."

"Hmmm," Anna commented. "I suppose they could come in handy if we could put the pills in the demons' food."

"Oh, really, mother, going to poison your own daughter?"

Anna and Sean looked up towards the sound of this new voice. They could see two red-skinned, black-horned, black-haired succubi flying down on their bat-wings towards them. It was Shiela and Marie.

Anna looked crest-fallen. "Oh no, Marie. You're..."

"Yes, I'm me again. No thanks to you. I'm just lucky that Shiela here had enough power in her to change me back. And as for your other plan..." Marie said, as she flew down and kicked the bottle of pills out of Sean's hand. "I don't think that's going to happen either."

Sean looked in horror as the open bottle fell to the ground, spilling forth its contents, the pills scattering everywhere under the thick carpet of grass. Sean fell to the ground to try to gather as many pills as she could, though she'd have to search by touch as the grass was tall enough to hide them from her sight.

"This isn't really you," Anna yelled, resolute in her faith. "You can fight it, I know you can."

"Mother, this *is* the real me. You have to accept it. Please quit fighting me. I don't know what they'll do to you, if you keep fighting," Marie told her. "Nobody has to get hurt, if you'll just stop."

While Marie made her impassioned speech to her mother, Shiela pounced on Sean, grabbing her in a full nelson, just as Sean had found a single pill. Sean struggled but was held helpless. "For example, your new friend here," Shiela told Anna. "It would be a shame if we had to do anything to her."

"I won't give in. Your soul is too important, Marie. Both of your souls are. Don't you understand that?"

"In that case, you can say goodbye to your busty friend," Shiela replied.
