"Hello, Jim," said Kelly. She was wearing a form-fitting, Star Trek-ish outfit just like his. "How do you like our temporary living quarters?"

"It's great! It's like someone took my idea of the perfect apartment and built it and furnished it just for me."

"That's not so far from the truth." Kelly sat down on the edge of the bed. "How do the interface clothes fit you?"

"The what? Oh, the clothes? They're comfortable. Actually, if I close my eyes, I can't even tell I'm wearing anything. I'd love to ask those medical people what kind of material they use to make this outfit."

"So, Jim, notice anything different about me?"

Jim looked at her oddly. "Different? No. Wait. Weren't your eyes...???"

Kelly blinked her long lashes.

"Weren't your eyes blue when I met you?"

"Yes."

"And now they're... green. Did you put in contact lenses or something?"

"No."

"And your hair... wasn't it... Whoa!" Jim gasped as Kelly's hair shifted from light brown to light blonde in front of his very eyes, and moved of its own accord into a long ponytail. "What's going on with your hair?"

"I'm beginning to adjust."

"To what?"

"To your subconscious desires, Jim." Her facial features morphed gradually, imperceptibly and Jim stared in fascination as she turned into an exact replica of Natalie, the girl with whom he had gone to the high school prom.

"Natalie???"

"Oh, Jim, I've been wanting to see you again, for so LONG." Her breasts filled out and her clothing morphed into a strapless black dress and high heels.

"What are you doing here, Natalie?"

"You called me. I came to see you." Her voice was Natalie's voice.

"I called you? You mean my... my subconscious called you? What happened to Kelly?"

"I'm still here."

Jim suddenly realized he was wearing a tuxedo; a glance in the mirror showed him that his hair was parted the same way it had been the night of the prom.

"Thank you for showing me such a lovely evening," said Natalie. "I loved dancing with you." The heady aroma of her corsage mixed with the faint scent of wine on her breath. She wrapped her arms around his neck and gazed up at him with large, trusting, green eyes. "Kiss me," she said.

Jim kissed her. Her lips were soft and full. He was becoming more aroused than he had been in years. They fell softly back onto the waterbed.

This scenario had never happened in reality. The night of the prom, Jim had taken Natalie home. There had never been any lovemaking session. But he had wanted it. He had dreamed of it time and time again.

And now, he realized, his dream looked about to come true.
