“Yes, and I think she knows more than she’s letting on.”
Krista grimaced a bit at that. “What makes you say that?”
“Well, after she won the last challenge, she didn’t seem to think much odd of it all. But on the way home, she kept talking about coincidences.”
“Like me leaving right on a full moon?”
“That’s part of it,” Celene replied. “She also mentioned the silver bracelet you always wore on full moons. I didn’t even pick up on it.”
“It’s a special artifact. It kept me from transforming on the first two full moons.”
“What about the third? Why’d you stop wearing it?”
“It has a curse if overused,” Krista sighed, “but I’ll explain more later. Anything else I should know?”
“Just that she’s determined to find the were girls. She wants her prize, and she wants it bad. I respect her reason for wanting it, but right now, she’s too desperate to get it. I think she needs to, I don’t know, understand a bit better?”
“Gotcha. We’ll play it by ear.”
“Thanks, Krista. See you all in a couple days.”
Krista hung up, worried about what the visit would bring.
“Honey?” Lisa’s soft voice crept into her strong ears. Her mate took gentle hold of her shoulders. “What’s wrong?”
Krista sighed as she sank into Lisa’s touch. “Celene’s bringing Emma along. She won the contest, and I think she knows about me.”
“So, what do we do?”
“I’m not sure. Hey, where are Rhonda and Loupy?”
“In California, at the Horrorcon. Loupy was going to cancel, but you were still in Europe. They figured on being back before you.”
“As long as their okay, that’s all that matters. Still, we might want to have them back for this. It involves all of us, after all.”
Lisa nodded. “Good idea. We’ll give them a call.” She whirled Krista around to face her. “Later.” The pair locked in a magnificent kiss as they sank to the floor.
Several days later, the house was buzzing with activity. Loupy and Rhonda had arrived home the evening before, while Celene and Emma made their appearance in a rented Taurus early the next afternoon.
Introductions were made, while Emma looked at both the girls and the house in awe. After the pleasantries were done, she asked the question at the forefront of her mind:
