"It's the Tulgies," Molly informed the rest, soon after it started. "They lurk in all the thicker portions of the forest -- disembodied spirits whose voices lure wayfarers to their doom if heeded. The Tulgy Wood was named for them."
"And here I thought the name was just something out of Lewis Carroll," Dabbler said.
"That too."
They did their best to ignore the voices, but it wasn't easy. After a while they were a constant irritation of maddening whispers, driving the travelers to distraction.
'Tis a far--
Is that a bazooka in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
I'd turn back if I were you.
"Keep going," warned Molly.
Stop, you fool, there's a precipice at your very feet....
Hey sailor....
Cockles and muscles, alive, alive-o!
You're all doomed, doomed, I tell you....
Drums... drums in the deep....
Free sex....
Come to me, traveler, follow my voice and I'll give you a sweet taste of heaven....
"Eyes front, JigSaw!" snapped D.J.
"Sorry, Deej, it's just I've had to deal with the taste of vomit for the longest time whenever I've even thought about it."
You're dead, dead, dead, dead, DEAD!
Lost, you all are lost, you're just going around in circles....
"No we're not," said Mort. "Don't hesitate, Sindy, keep Molly in view, she'll steer you right."
