"Hi, Jill," the voice on the other end greeted. "I was thinking I'd need to leave a message. Weren't you going to that magician's performance?"
"I did," Jill replied. "But I got bored. I could easily see how all of his tricks were performed. There wasn't any surprise to them." Well, most of them, anyway.
"That's the brainiac I know," Jack replied with a laugh. "Are you going to be studying at all tomorrow evening."
"I can get done early if need be," Jill replied. "What would you like to do?"
"Well, there was that ballet performance that you told me you wanted to see, and I actually got a couple of tickets, so..."
Jill felt a portion of her mind click. The old Jill would never dream of going to watch ballet, but now the idea overjoyed her. "Yes! I'd love to go! Thank you so much, Jack!"
"Great!" Jack replied. "I'll pick you up around six o'clock tomorrow, cutie."
As the conversation came to an end, Jill pressed the off button on the phone and jogged back downstairs to give it to her parents. Saying goodnight for a second time, she went to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror.
Jill felt a sense of surprise when she saw her reflection. Despite all of the changes made to her, she still had what most people would consider a very cute face. The frame of her glasses was thin and ovular, and actually helped make her look better. The braid in her ponytail was a nice touch, as well. Good grades, a boyfriend that still cared for her, Jill began to think that maybe the changes Drake had made to her life were for the best.
Feeling good about herself for the first time since the magic show, Jill headed straight for bed.
