Candace let one final breath fill her lungs before her body gave out. Sam and Kath wondered what to expect next, now that their friend had just died in their arms.
Katherine and Samantha felt suddenly repelled from Candace’s body, and shrieked as a nimbus of holy white light surrounded her. Unseen forces lifted her into the air, bringing her upright as a pair of feathered wings regrew from her shoulders. The angel glided up the blessed beam of light under her own power as her golden halo circled around her head, her expression a mix of joy and sadness.
Candace remained silent through the whole experience, watching her two demonized friends with hope in her heart. If she could suffer through Hell to get to Heaven, maybe they could as well.
The succubi watched the sky open to accept their ascended friend, wishing that the beautiful moment wasn’t causing them so much pain, that they could shed even a single tear of happiness for Candace, that their hearts didn’t feel as hardened as they were.
