Cindy stirred and fidgeted. "Can't we shut this off? I'm hungry."
"After all we've done tonight? You want more?"
"Not that kind of hunger... hunger for a soul."
"Oh... the hunger. Well, are you up for some take-out?"
"What about Pen?"
"We won't kill anyone. Just a little snack."
"I guess a snack never hurt anyone."
"Then let's go."
The two demons took the room key on the table and locked up behind them, going out into the night to find a nosh.
Penance slept peacefully on the bed. Samantha and Candace shared the other bed, with Samantha cuddled against the Blessed One. Candace kept shifting in her sleep, trying to get free of Samantha's spoon.
Dreams came easily to Penance that night. In her dreams she was Katherine again and wasn't a Hunter. She was in her old bedroom at the sorority house and studying a textbook on calculus. As she read the lesson, the text changed in front of her eyes. Math formulas became scientific equations expressing orgasms. Graphs of the X-Y coordinate system contorted, showing a exponential graph of human arousal levels over time.
"What the..." she mumbled. Then she saw something in the mirror.
Instead of her relection in the glass, she saw Cindy and Livewire hunched over a woman in the hotel parking lot. They were draining a little of her soul and feeding off of her essence. Within a moment it was over and they released her. She wasn't badly hurt because she took off running. If they'd taken much soul from her, she'd still be laying on the asphalt.
"Demons can't be trusted," Katherine muttered, then went back to her lesson. Then she felt a horrible pain and tingling in her body and screamed...
... and woke up, sitting bolt upright in bed.
"What's wrong?" Candace asked, waking up at the sound of trouble.
"Just a bad dream," Penance said, sitting in the dark. "Mind if I turn on the light for a minute? I want to check the clock."
"Go ahead," Samantha said, now also awake.
Penance turned on the light and all three girls gasped as they saw Penance's new...
