Candace worked the last few incantations of the love spell she read in her friend’s dime-store spellbook. She wanted so desperately to know who her true love was, and was willing to take a leap of faith in the opposite direction of conventional religion to find it.
She took care not to break her circle of power, like the book had said. She kept her mind focused on positive thought, and felt a tinge of excitement as her skin tingled with the building power. She was a bit surprised to see the image of a woman appear in her mind; she’d never thought of herself as a lesbian, but guessed that beggars couldn’t be choosers. Besides, who was Candace Garrison to second-guess the universe?
She fell to her knees, letting her slightly plump form relax a bit. Sweat tinged off her mocha skin, clinging to the blue jeans and baggy teal blouse she wore. The bangs of her short black hair fell into her eyesight; she brushed them away gently before continuing, unaware that she was being watched from afar…
Lust had found the tracing rather easily. The girl’s power was raw, unfocused, but incredibly strong for a mortal. She could make a fine disciple, given the right training. That still didn’t explain why her powers had found Julie, or why they were exorcising the evil from her soul that Angela had sought so hard to cultivate.
Obliterating her mind and killing her were not options; that would destroy the untapped power within her. No, she would acquire two prizes; Julie as her eternal demon lover, and this girl…Candace, her powers told her…as her demon servant.
Angela formulated a plan, and began putting it into action…
