Beth knocked on Miriam's door. She's probably already in tigress mode, Beth thought to herself. Then she heard the door lock click and Miriam appeared... still human.

"Beth!" Miriam said, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to get you," Beth replied, "The others are already at the lake. Are you OK? I thought you'd be... um... shouldn't you be... uh..."

"A tigress? You can say it, it's not a dirty word."

"You think I'd be OK with it all by now," Beth said, "But that's just me."

"Listen... why don't you come inside for a minute. I need to talk to you."

"But the others are waiting-"

"Please. I just need a minute."

"OK," Beth said. She followed Miriam inside the house.

"So, what's up?"

"I need your help. It has to be you, the others wouldn't understand."

"Whatever you need, just name it," Beth said.

Miriam looked a little embarassed, but she kept talking. She said...

  1. "My ex-boyfriend wants to get back together with me. He'll be here any minute. I'm going to tell him everything, and I want you to back up my story."
  2. "I'm leaving town. I just can't handle this anymore. Tell the others goodbye for me, OK?"
  3. *"We were careless. Someone slipped a letter under my door today. Whoever it is knows everything and it threatening to alert the media."
