“So, basically, it’d stop the aging process, along with the degredation of mental faculties,” Jim said excitedly, cutting another piece of lemon herb chicken. “In essence, it’d make whoever undergoes the process immortal.”
Nora nodded. “Sounds awesome. How long were you working on this?”
“About three years. It took a long time to work the kinks out. I hope.”
Coyly, Nora propped her elbows on the table. “And that’s where I come in, right?”
Jim gave her a nervous look. “Nora, are you sure you want to go through with this?”
“Absolutely. Jim, I like this sort of thing, remember? Transforming was such a rush. Besides, you cured me before. If something goes wrong, I trust you to figure it out. If it goes right, you’d have forever to tinker with me, and I’d have plenty of time to make us both enjoy it.”
Jim thought about it, taking his time to weigh the possible outcomes before finally nodding his head. “All right. We’ll head back down to the lab after dinner.”
Arm in arm, the two brave souls ventured once more into Jim’s lab.
“Is that it?” Nora asked, pointing toward the white tarp in the corner.
“Yeah,” Jim said, walking over to the large sheet. “Abra-cadabra!” he snickered, pulling away the sheet to reveal…
