Sharon and Charlotte: The cursed mirror.

“What the?” Sharon gasped, her reptilian eyes widening in disbelief.

“No…it’s not possible…” Charlotte shook her head at the sight.

The gold-trimmed mirror was all that remained intact inside the room. The gold coins and jewelry had melted into bubbling pools of gilded slag, yet this furnishing of pure gold and simple glass remained intact and unaffected. Charlotte and Sharon’s images reflected in the perfect glass, images of their human selves.

“Gorbash,” Charlotte hissed, her scaled brow narrowing. “This enchantment must be his doing.” She felt suddenly very ill, as though her body thought itself a parasite and was determined to destroy itself.

Sharon gritted her fangs in equal pain, taking in the reflection of her old self: petite, Caucasian, brown hair, plain blue eyes. Human. She never thought she would experience such revulsion at seeing herself with a human body.

“No!’ She clenched her eyes tightly, wrapping her arms around her scaly body. “I’m not a human! I won’t be one again!”

Yes you will! Gorbash’s voice in her mind was purest cruelty.

Charlotte gasped in agony as she fell to one knee. “I’m…a…dragon…”

You are a human, and you always will be! This mirror allows me to show you your true selves, and lock you into those forms forever!

Sharon opened her mouth in shock at the words, and realized to her horror that she was slowly beginning to shrink back down to her former human size. She touched her scales, and felt them becoming brittle, dislodging themselves from her skin as they started to flake off!

You were never worthy of being dragons, and soon, you will become human again, without any powers or knowledge that dragons have.

Charlotte was in a worse way, as her snout had begun compressing back into a human face. Her beautiful wings were withering slowly but surely, and even her runic tattoos had started to extinguish.

You won’t even remember that dragons exist!

Sharon had to act fast, or they’d become humans again…for good!

1. The women try to mentally alter their images in the mirror, making their reflections draconic in the hopes that their bodies will follow suit.
2. *One of the women tries to smash the mirror.
3. Nothing works, and both women are permanently reverted to human form.
4. The mirror is an elaborate illusion, and the reversion is working only because the women are fooled by the spell.
5. One of the Council members, impressed by the courage and dilligence of the half-dragonesses, intervenes on their behalf.
6. Seems as good a time as any for a surprise...
