Sharon shook her head. “We will not harm you, but you have seen too much. You have already been exposed, to my seed and that of my mate, when you fell in the water.”

Charlotte’s eyes widened. “Exposed? W-what do you mean, exposed? Am I…”

The dragon-woman nodded. “I do not know how long it will take, but you will change, only slightly, for now. When you do, you will no longer be completely human.”

The human finally broke down, slumping to the ground as she openly wept. Sharon picked her up from the ground, contenting herself to hold her, letting her weep as long as she needed to. Gradually, Charlotte’s hands found willing purchase on Sharon’s rough-textured, but still human, shoulders. She let her head slump into a calming embrace, staring into space with puffy eyes as she thought about her fate.

They remained there for a long while. Sharon looked up when she heard Nobakai’s voice, before finding it within her own mind.

My love, what has transpired?

I have her, she communicated back to him. She will not try to run away. She fell in the lake that contained our seed.

Sharon took a cursory glance, and found that…
