Roy Del Frink pushed the microphone away and pointed to the announcer across the booth. The announcer, in a dramatic, low tone, said:"But the band could not withstand the forces that were conspiring to tear it apart. When we return, THE DRUMMER DIES!"
Frink grabbed the microphone and said, "You are listening to 'Behind the Writing,' on BEA!!!" The broadcast cut to "Crossroads Blues," by Robert Johnson.
- *Fitzgerald is delayed getting to the radio station and weasel takes his place for the interview.
- *By the time Fitzgerald gets to the radio station, Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy are already set-up and doing their act. Fitzgerald flies into a rage, picks up Charlie McCarthy by the heels and proceeds to beat Bergen senseless with him. "That'll teach you to do a ventriloquist's act ON THE RADIO, you talentless hack!" Fitzgerald says. Frink begins the interview.
- Fitzgerald, totally drunk, stumbles into the wrong radio station and disrupts a broadcast of Glenn Gould's "The Idea of North."
