Lizzie and Sawyer, Part 2aa: Deathtrap number 2!

Unending BE - episode 145222

Okay, okay, ya wanna see Sawyer set up trap number 2? Here it is. Now this takes place after DJ and JigSaw explode trap number 1, y'understand, which Sawyer had a look-see spy on. An' that left him in one fret of a sweat, lemme tell ya! He don't believe his own eyes, nosirree, so even though it looks like DJ and JigSaw are dead, he's goin' right ahead an' settin' up another fiendish contrivance, just so's he kin kill 'em again! Got it? Oh-kay, let's get this yer show on th' road, then, shall we, pardner?

Sawyer and Elizabeth soon appeared in another part of the Jungle of Confusion. Elizabeth, hearing a train-whistle in the background, thought they must be near the place they had just come from, but she was wrong. Truth to tell, the Jungle's lousy with various lines of the Chain Link Railway, which constitute the only means of cutting through the confusion and maintaining a single sequence of events in the tangled undergrowth of the AddVenture... but that's neither here nor there.

Actually, the there that was here was a sort of mesa projecting above the forest itself, known locally as The Rock. This is the rock people are always trying to get a piece of in those television commercials, incidentally. Seems it's full of iron ore, and you can make compasses out of it. And in the Jungle of Confusion, that's as close as you can get to anything resembling insurance. Yes, folks consider it quite prudential to get a piece of that Rock...

On the other hand, it's pretty low-grade ore, and in the rainforest surrounding tends to melt away to nothing at the first deluge. Hey, I didn't say it was very good insurance!

Be that as it may, The Rock was where Sawyer and Elizabeth appeared. This time that sidewinder Sawyer figured he'd make a maze, kind of like the one Minos had in Knossos. You know, the one Theseus cracked? That's right! He concentrated, and an immense tangled hedge started growing out of The Rock, as complicated a maze as you could wish, with something deadly waiting at every dead end and a big round boulder constantly rolling through the aisles to crush anything that wasn't supposed to be there. Which basically meant anything Sawyer hadn't put there. But the worst thing was in the middle...

There were just one or two finishing touches left to add, then it would be time to bait the trap...

  1. >Sawyer finishes things up.
