Backstage: concerning babies

Unending BE - episode 129964

"I was wondering, Husband," said Sendula, as they resumed eating.

"Yes?" Sid responded.

"As long as your huge-breasted trollop of a princess chose to drop by again, why didn't you send the baby you two had together back with her?"

(Author's note: it happened in Episode 129982, which I'm sure will be linked forward to this thread eventually...)

Sid shrugged. "Didn't even cross my mind. After all, since she's the one who left it with my other self in the first place, I doubt she'd be inclined to take it back. Besides, the way Jasmine's story-threads multiply, I can't even be sure if this Jasmine even had the kid in the first place. Besides, I thought you and Credensa decided you liked being mothers."

"It was making a virtue of necessity. And he is your boy, after all. But if the birth-mother's available..."

"Sorry, honey. Tell you what, if by some inconceivable twist of fate Jasmine's inflicted on us yet again, I'll ask her, okay?"

"Very well, husband," Sendula replied, not sounding entirely satisfied.

"You know," Sid told her, "You two have both been a little out of sorts lately. Is raising a boy and defending your husband against unruly characters at the same time too big a job for you? You have a servant now -- shall we enlist Mirage as a wetnurse?"

"What?" screeched Mirage, who was bringing over the next course. "Me, wetnurse Jasmine's brat?"

Sid looked hard at her.

Mirage sighed. "Very well, O Great One," she said. "If that is my mistresses' wish."

"Perhaps it would be a good idea, sister," said Credensa. "Our Husband is right. We have been out of sorts. Do you think it's time we told him why?"

Sendula nodded. "It's as good a time as any. You see, Husband, the rabbit, in your idiom, has croaked. Credensa and I are pregnant."

  1. *And how does Sid react to this bit of news?
