"Sure," Sid told him.
"I can't believe you kept me offstage the whole last episode," Gonzo moped. "Especially since we're already backstage the first place!"
"Hey, not my fault," Sid protested. "It's not my fault RaoulDuke forgot to take you with him when he wrote himself back into the main AddVenture."
"No, but it's your fault I've been kept in the wings ever since!"
"Fraid not. You see, for linking reasons, the result of Duke's revenge got written before its commencement, and you weren't in the 'result' episode. That would have been fine if Duke had taken you with him the way he should have, but he didn't, so you were stuck here, where you had been previously defined as not being. Pretending you were in hiding must have seemed the best way to write around it to the current author."
"Sounds like doubletalk to me."
"No, just a situation with metaliterary implications. Happens in the BE AddVenture all the time, and will probably take place even more often here backstage."
"I want no part of it! I want out!"
"As it happens, I can help with that, since the current author's my boss. Boss? Want to put him out of his misery?"
"I don't like the sound of that," said Gonzo, apprehensively.
Suddenly the voiceless presence of Deja Voodoo rang through their minds:
Gonzo vanished.
"Well, that's that," Sid said, slapping his hands against each other. "Wonder what's next on the docket?"
Just then, a most unexpected visitor dropped in...
Go back - Go to the parent episode.
