Jacob laughed. "We'll have to touch some kind of animal before it will work."
Richard picked up a big black feather. "Will this work?" Even as he spoke a faint tingle and the mental picture of a raven answered his question. He concentrated on the raven; and his arms began to change into wings.
"That's a good idea." Jacob took the feather as Richard became a raven. "It'll be easier to find critters when we can fly."
Richard returned to human form. "One problem. I couldn't talk as a bird."
Jacob smiled. "Maybe we can only change halfway." Then he tried to dojust that.
After a few minutes he managed to hold himself as a human sized raven; with hands at the ends of his wings. But he couldn't fly in that form.
Richard laughed when Jacob tried flapping his arm/wings. "Not exactly practical; is it."
"Not with a bird." Jacob resumed his original form. "Shall we go hunting animals to touch?"
"One question first. Can we have more than one animal ... on file," Richard tapped his head. "at once?"
