Unending BE - episode 101957

"I did."
Akane looked at the being in front of her. His features were hidden by a sombrero hat and a poncho, but what little was visible of his face looked like a patchwork. The man (Akane assumed that the broken voice was masculine) was maybe two meters tall and had a large frame even for his height.
"Who... who are you?"
"A troubleshooter. You cause trouble. I shoot. Simple."
Akane looked around. The bullet had to be half as large as her fist, because it almost tore the LCD screen in two. "Give me the device. Now."
Akane, shaking, took the damaged laptop and gave it to the man. He picked it up with one hand and knelt. While keeping the huge handgun aimed at Akane, he took some insulated wires from what she assumed was a pocket and stuffed them in the serial port. The portion of the poncho that covered the man's right arm slid down and Akane could see that the huge arm was not only covered with scars, but had wires going in and out of it. Two of the wires reached into the pistol. Once the connection was complete, the man began moaning softly for about ten seconds, after which everything -- except Akane's memories -- returned to normal.
"I may not interfere any further. This device is still functional. I am immune. Use it for the good of your people." the man said, then rose and took off his hat as he bid Akane farewell. Akane was horrified by the bare skullcap patched together with steel plates, the uneven eyes and the messed up face. "I go now. More troubleshooting. Connect the computer to a VGA monitor to operate."

  1. Akane does so, then tries to call the man's profile.
  2. AKane does so, then restores all of her changes.
  3. *Akane sees that the man has a point.
