Jim looked up at the scientist. "Does it come with a set of instructions?"

The scientist smiled. "This is top secret. We can't just print out instructions that someone might be lost or stolen. But if you open the butt plate there is a small screen. A help file." A brief pause. "It needs a lot of work. One of the things we need tested."

"So if this is so secret how do I test it?"

"Very carefully. Just be sure no one sees you do it."

"How will I tell you how this works?" Not that I want to see you turkeys again.

"We'll find you. And we expect you to use it ten times a day ..." The scientist gave Jim a look that screamed 'Or else.'

I was afraid of that. "I don't like the idea of changing someone permanently into something ... weird.

"It's designed to transform a person for twelve hours. Though we're not sure how precise that figure will be."

Jim shrugged. "Guess I'm ready to start."

The guards took Jim to a nearby park. When they had gone he

  1. *hid in the bushes to ambush passersby.
  2. headed t the bad part of town. After all; even if the junkies did remember being changed everyone would think they had been hallucinating.
  3. went to find some bums under a bridge.
  4. threw the furrifier in the lake.
  5. *went somewhere else.
