Billie groaned. "I'd rather shoot the paperwork," he sighed. "Oh well. At least you two are the ones that'll fill these out. Here, miss, this one you can fill out for yourself."

"What's this all for?" Richelle asked, picking up the form and looking for a pencil.

Upuaut handed her a pencil as Billie replied, "oh, the usual. You swear by all that you hold sacred not to tell anyone anything that you learn here, or that this place exists, and you agree to undergo a mental mindwipe at the discretion of the authorities before you leave..."

Richelle managed to restrain her shriek to a small eep. "Mindwipe??? I'm not going to be brainwashed!"

"Contrary to your fears, Miss Summers, a mindwipe would only be confined to the relevant knowledge we're discussing here. You do not authorize us to remove or alter any knowledge not related to our existence, and by our laws, anyone convicted of unauthorized mindwiping is subject to a complete re-wipe of their own mind. They sign that agreement when they achieve legal certification to perform the procedure."

Richelle blinked as Upuaut's soothing tone poured over her. She wasn't sure she understood more than one word in two, but it sounded ok.

"You could sell refrigerators to the eskimoes, Upuaut," Billie said, shaking his head.

"Yes, I did, but it took a demonstration of showing how it protected you against polar bear attacks to get any sales," Upuaut replied. Billie doubled over with stifled laughter, and Richelle paused in the act of signing the form to look over at Upuaut questioningly. That sounded like a joke, but with him she couldn't be sure. He looked at her, and the tip of his tongue flicked out to tap his nose before going back in. She smiled uncertainly, although he couldn't see it beneath the skunkess mask she still wore. After signing the form, she handed it to Upuaut- Billie ostentatiously ignoring its existence- and immediately went over to examine Jim. She thought he might be coming to, but...
