The apparently endless sexual antics shown on the TV had for once given way to something different: a brief news bulletin. The lead item was that a subversive political party had been set up which claimed that women should be more than sex objects.

  1. *It appeared not to be taken seriously, but treated as a subject for ridicule.
  2. It seemed to be seen as a serious threat, and party members were subject to arrest.
  3. To their amazement, its leader was claimed to be one of the people they had had dinner with.
