Upon realizing her error, Lupe~ checked the time on the big clock tower in the distance and saw that she had 10 minutes to get to class. "I can't be late again - I'd better take the shortcut through the woods."
So Lupe~ turned off the paved road and began to wander through the woods. Lupe~ had often walked through parts of the less dense park area, but this was the first time she was going to cut right through the heart of the forest.
Just as Lupe~ reached the center of the forest, she heard the rustling of the undergrowth. Lupe~ stopped and listened to the sounds of someone... something?... approaching. And then, from around the corner of a tree, stepped...
