Sharon suddenly recognized Rick, bedecked in his apprentice's robes. She seized struggling, but began asking questions with the same tenancity with which she had been resisting her captors. "Rick, is that you? Thank God, I've found you at last. But where's Jim? And why won't any of the men around here take anything I say seriously? Tell them to let me go."
"Do you know this slut?" the wizard asked Rick.
"Yes, My Lord. She is, or rather, was the girlfriend of my former friend Jim. She did not accompany us here, and I am unsure how she came to Gor."
The wizard just nodded, but Sharon realized the implication of what Rick had said. "What do you mean, 'former friend'? Where's Jim? . . . Wait a second, Did you say, GOR???" This alst was said with some degree of fear, as Sharon had heard all about this supposedly fictional counter earth from a former boyfriend who had wanted to test his new S&M gear on her.
Rick was unsure how to answer Sharon, but the wizard solved that problem quite readily enough, while at the same time causing an even greater ethical dilemma. "Well, apprentice. It matters not that you and this slut knew each other on your barbarian planet. You still must pass your test. Convert her mind into that of a kajira, and be thorough about it. For know this, if you fail, or worse yet, if you try to somehow preserve her original mindset, you will suffer a worse fate than any ever known on Gor!!!!"
Remembering all he had seen and read about Gor, Rick nearly wet his pants at that. After a pause of a few seconds he made his decision and . . .
