“So, it seems that those who oversleep lose.” A familiar, oddly familiar voice taunted. Ash tried to figure out whose voice it was, but unfortunately, it was beyond his current mental capacities.
“Who are you?”
“I’m disappointed. You don’t remember your teacher? The one who deciphered all those ‘sacred scrolls’ in your attic and taught you those techniques you couldn’t read on your own? What an ungrateful student…”
“Lance!” Relieved that it wasn’t one of his tormentors, i.e., Gary Mahogany or Ataru Moroboshii, Ash broke into a grin as his teacher walked out of the bushes. Lance Dragyn smirked, golden eyes bright as the twenty-four year old turned to his former student. He hadn’t minded teaching Ash, since translating and teaching those techniques meant he had to learn them himself first. It was a pity he had no interest in becoming a Tamer and only had a Dracona.
“So what did you get? I assume that from your depressed expression, you – don’t tell me you overslept and didn’t get a pokegirl at all?”
“Er, no, not that…”
“Then what’s wrong?” Lance frowned. “Don’t tell me you got saddled with a Starboob and you can’t tame it because you’re a male?”
“Er… not that either, but…”
Lance looked impatient as he waited for Ash to get to the point. A manga was produced as he began browsing the latest episode of ‘Tragic Knight Rayearth’. Finally, Ash broke down.
“I have a Merrowl.”
“So? That’s not a bad pokegirl… they’re quite popular as pets. Is she unable to battle?”
“It’s just that Professor Mahogany said that I shouldn’t let her out unless I want her to battle. I think he said she was Feral.”
“Hmm, in that case, why don’t we have a quick battle to test that theory?” Lance asked.
