Jim closed the bedroom door so Sharon couldn't be seen, and then answered the door. It was a couple that he knew slightly. The girl, an attractive brunette in her early twenties, was a work colleague of Sharon's and the man was her boyfriend. Jim had met them at a couple of parties that he had gone to as Sharon's escort. "Hello, Kelly, Bill," he said. "I'm afraid that Sharon is out at present and she could be several hours. I don't think it's worth your waiting."

"That's odd," said Kelly.

  1. "Surely she can't have forgotten that she invited some of us to dinner this evening? The others should be arriving soon."
  2. *"Since I just heard something being knocked over in the next room."
  3. "I'm afraid I don't know how to put this delicately, but isn't that a dildo on the table over there?" Jim realised too late that Sharon hadn't taken it into the bedroom.
