Edging his way towards the bathroom, Jim noticed a stack of mail on the table. An opened envelope was next to the stack. Jim picked up the envelope: it was a letter from HS Mining Company of New Mexico, stating that Rick had lost all of his shares in a gold mine. The mine had apparently caved in and was a total loss.

"Have you seen this?" Jim indicated the envelope to Rick.

"Yeah," Rick said, "I lost my fucking mine."

That was a relief, thought Jim, for a moment I thought I was in trouble.
