There IS a HappyLand, Far, Far Away...la la la...
Unending BE - episode 30189
"HappyLand, huh?" Julie-Su shook her head so that her metallic dreadlock clanked against the steel hair-stays in the other ones. "That place has got a BAD rep. They were even closed down entirely for a while! But still, if they're opened again now, they must have squared things away with the cops and cleaned up their act..." She led Sharon to the edge of the curb and shrieked, so loud that Sharon nearly jumped straight out of her skin, "TAXI!!!!"
A taxicab, painted in white-and-black checkers and hovering about six inches off the street, pulled up to them. The face of a middle-aged, bad-tempered, sloppy-looking dingo man peered out at them with a grumpy expression. "Where to, ladies?" he said flatly.
"HappyLand Amusement Park." said Julie-Su. "And step on it!"
After several minutes of driving (the park was way across town) at AMAZINGLY scary speeds through the strange surrealistic town, they arrived at the gates for HappyLand. "I'll stick around a few minutes to get you a ride back to my place for the night just in case they don't take ya. I still have some credits on me. Good luck!"
"Thanks." said Sharon, and walked into the park, the scales on her bare feet making a strange snicky sound on the brick walkways. It was quite an amusement park, all right, full of huge, odd-looking and potentially deadly rides, loud music, hyperactive kids running around screaming, etc. But Sharon wasn't looking at any of this. She was heading straight for an empty food stand that had a sign up reading, "HELP WANTED".
"I--I'm here for the job?" she tenatively asked the weasel behind the counter. She didn't like the looks of the guy, but hey, work was work, and she needed money badly...
"HEY, MARV! GET OUT HEAH! WE GOT OURSELVES A NEW CLERK!!" A large, hulking echidna came out from the tent behind the stand. "Pleased to meet you, Miss. No need to sign any papers now; we'll take care of that later. We've been having SO many people ask to eat here all day, we don't know what to do! So just get right to work, okay?"
Sharon felt a little uneasy about this. No papers? They seemed AWFULLY eager to have her there....why? Were they hiding something? And what was the reason they had been shut down earlier that Julie-Su had mentioned?
Then again, maybe it was all in her imagination. And she DID need the money.
- *She takes the job.
- She backs out of it.
- SOMETHING ELSE happens.
