Jamie was about to leave the locker room when a new set of shrieks erupted from the already frightened teenagers. Kathy, still clutching a towel futilely to her hyper-inflated chest, was pointing in shock at something behind Jamie, so she turned to look.
At first she couldn't tell what they were so frightened about, but then she saw it -- the form of a girl, flickering in and out of visibility, was standing backed against a row of lockers. The brunette was looking pretty nervous herself, from what Jamie could see of her expression. Jamie's interest was caught further when she saw the long silver rod gripped in the girl's hand. Hmmm...
As Jamie approached cautiously, the girl flickered a few more times like a bad fluorescent light, then became permanently visible. She didn't seem to register that fact, for she had begun waving the rod around, as if she was trying to get it to do something. But the only thing that happened was that it suddenly crumbled into dust and blew away.
The girl was staring at her empty hand in shock, when Jamie tapped her on the shoulder. She gave a little yip of surprise.
"I think you'd better get out of here," Jamie said with a smirk. "They don't look too happy with you." She gestured at the other inhabitants of the locker room. Indeed, it appeared that Jamie was not the only one to catch on -- several of the girls were closing in with murderous looks in their eyes. In what had to be a move of long habit, the girl grabbed Jamie's arm and ducked behind her, using the taller girl's body to conceal herself from the others.
"Oh, that's real useful."
