Authorial Confusion

(Up in authorial heaven,continuity cops go into a fluster.In the continuity leading into the episode just past,no mention has ever been made of Jim having a girlfriend Sharon,and now one has suddenly appeared.Generally,episodes where Jim has a girlfriend Sharon tend to descend from Choice 1 out of "The Start of a Brand New Day",while the ones where Robin is the object of his lust,and he is a geeky high school senior with no girlfriend,descend from Choice 3.Sometimes the streams merge,as the game has gotten very complicated...but it's convenient to remember that the high school Jim lusts after Robin but has no girl at all to start with,while twentysomething Jim has an ongoing relationship with twentysomething Sharon and has never heard of Robin.

Now,however,Robin and Sharon have been brought face to face.What to do?)

The authors decide to

  1. Make Sharon a mirage.
  2. Come up with an explanation.
  3. *pass the buck to an author who will do something else.
