Walk Like an Egyptian?
Unending BE - episode 29041
It was now about 3 o-clock in the afternoon, or at least it would have been were they back home, but this place seemed to have a slightly longer day than Earth, and the sun had come up, showing a perfectly ordinary blue sky, which reassured Sharon a bit. Charmy, after packing away both hoops of the "ring-tether" in his backpack (of COURSE he had a backpack; don't be silly) then showed her how he had earned his name--he truly WAS a charming companion. Witty, funny, elegant, sophisticated, and with absolutely impeccable manners. He acted as if he had been raised in a very wealthy and important family--yet HADN'T let it go to his head. He was classy without being snooty. A rather nice companion. BUT there was something that was bothering her about this situation.
Sharon looked at Charmy sideways. She wasn't sure if she should travel with him or not, since in this story, the authors almost always made two people of opposite genders (or even the same) mate the instant they got near each other, and she was afraid in this case that that would somehow bind her into this form permanently. While she did like being able to fly and having a natural weapon that she could never accidentally misplace, she did NOT want to be stuck this way forever. Besides, though Charmy was cute, he was hardly her type. Only a teenager, for one thing, and Sharon was not a cradle-robber.
Charmy noticed her glance and smiled. "Don't worry," he said reassuringly to her, "I wouldn't dream of making any untoward advances, my lady. I'm gay. Well, I'm not supposed to be originally, but this author decided that I could be, so I am. Care for a sip?" He held out a thermos of something pale brown to her.
Sharon heaved an inner sigh of relief, then bent down to take a sniff. "What is it?"
"Frappucino", he grinned. "I must confess to a bit of an addiction to it. But of course, I AM a honeybee, we DO like our sweets..."
Sharon took a sip, as she was a bit peckish after all the hiking they'd been doing, and they continued on.
They had left the Carnival area behind long ago. Now they found themselves in an exotic desert area of shifting sands, huge pyramids, shimmering blue crystal towers, giant sand-worms and scorpions, rope-swings that were lots of fun to swing on, a beautiful sunset-coloured sky, and (if this works), some
