The girl chuckled. "Well," she said, "you rub the grey stone to activate the ring. Believe me, you'll know if it's active. Then you touch someone and say a one-word phrase. This word will become slowly more and more ingrained in the person's being. For instance, if the word were 'happy,' the person would grow steadily happier."
Jim asked, "So it only works if I say an emotion?"
"Not neccecarily. If the one-word phrase was, say, 'athlete,' then the person would slowly grow more inclined to work out and play sports. So do you want this thing or not?"
