"We'll worry about that when it's time, dear. Come, you must be both famished and parched." He led Sharon to the door, knocked, and held her there while an assistant wheeled in a cart. Half-water fountain, half-feeding trough, of sorts.
"What is this? Oats? Are you feeding me horse food?"
"I'd love to prepare a more human meal, but with the appetite of a horse-- make that two horses-- we'll have to go for something a little more economical. My apologies."
"I'm not eating this!" Sharon protested.
"Oh, but I think you will. We'll be in later to check on you."
The man left, leaving Sharon alone. He was right; the transformation to her body, and the growing animal within her, left her starving within a half hour, and she resorted to eating what had been put out for her. It didn't taste half-bad, she thought. She drank what seemed like gallons of water before being satisfied.
Hours passed; Sharon moped. She felt heavier, more awkward, the daze of pregnancy hormones only beginning. But then she heard a familiar voice.
"Sharon? Are you in there?"
"Jim!"
The door opened.
