"When after a little the voice returned, Sharon said: "Who is it?". "Your shoes," came the voice in her head in reply. "You must be a slut, or you'd never have put us on." "I am not a slut," said Sharon in an affronted tone. "There's no need to talk out loud," said the shoes. "We can hear you perfectly well if you just think what you want to say, in the same way that you can hear us. Anyway, if you're not a slut yet, you will be before long. You won't be able to help yourself. No woman can come here and resist for long."

Sharon found this rather alarming, but could not think of a suitable reply. Then she realised that:

  1. Someone was approaching.
  2. *Suddenly she felt very hot, and was dripping with perspiration.
  3. Something else.
