Jim took a simple gold ring from the tray and held it up close to his face so he could see it better. "That's a ring of mind control and form control," the shop owner explained.

Yeah, right, Jim thought, but it was a nice ring, so he told the shop owner that he would take it.

"Do you want a second ring?" the shop owner asked.

"Nah, that's okay," Jim said, and he handed the owner a ten dollar bill. He opened his hand and stared down at it. He could hardly take his eyes off it. It was beautiful.

  1. Jim takes the ring home and gives it to his girlfriend.
  2. *Jim can't resist putting the ring on his own finger.
  3. *Jim asks the shop owner if the ring really does have magic powers.
  4. *Jim decides to walk around the shop more before heading home.
