The Prisoner

Unending BE - episode 1630

Jim opens his eyes a crack. His head hurts. His muscles ache. Two scientists in lab coats that seem old fashioned stand over him, one of them is shining a light into his eyes. "Can he hear us?" Asks the woman peering into his eyes. Her hair is in a tight bun, she wears thick rimmed glasses, no makeup or lipstick.

"I doubt it." says the man. He's rather short, overweight, thinning hair plastered to his head with sweat. He turns to a strange control panel, all the controls on it are large, readouts are in LED's, or dials, no computer in sight. "He's still in shock. His mental endurance is incredible! Somehow he figured out we were feeding him information. His last few thoughts were of brainwashing. Then somehow he blocked out all our input, leaving him in featurless fog. This doesn't seem possible. I can't imagine how he figured it out." The man walks over to Jim and looks right in his face. Jim realizes he's strapped down to a hospital bed, some strange object is encasing his head. "Can you hear us? I am Number Two. Why did you resign from the Service?"

"Who is Number One?" Jim weakly manages to ask.

"My stars, he remembers his earlier interrogation. This fellow's capacity for physical and mental punishement is astounding!" says Number Two. He injects Jim with something and everything goes black again. An unknown amount of time later, Jim wakes up
