He frowned, trying to think of what it had been he had just decided to do. For some reason, the decision he had arrived at seemed to have been wiped from his mind, as if it had never been.

He shrugged. Hardly mattered -- the coke-flavored perfume and the condom would do just fine as Sharon's birthday gift. In fact, he might as well go over to her place and give it to her now. So thinking, he left the house and went over to Sharon's. He rang the bell and rocked back and forth on his heels impatiently until she answered it.

Finally she opened the door. To Jim's surprise...

  4. she grabbed him by the hand and pulled him into the house. "Come upstairs," she purred, silkily. "A man who takes the trouble to bring me a present in person deserves a special reward..."

  5. she smiled. "Great!" she said. "This will go so well with the Pepsi-flavored lipstick Rick just brought me..."

  6. she seemed completely indifferent to the gift. And him. In fact, she was staring vacantly into space, as if she had been hypnotized or something...
