BEEP BEEP BEPP.
Jim heard his alarm clock go off but he didn't care. It was one of the rare times in his life when he remembered the day before, and the day before that. While he had had good days before generally they turned south and fast. He didn't think he could take another day where he was forced to become a woman, or some she-giant decided it would be fun to play with him. He relized that someone else was in his bed and made a concious effort not to look at them and hoped that they just left him alone. Who ever it was eventually did get up and head to the bath room and Jim rolled onto his back and staired up at his ceiling. Life wasn't so bad now. The bed was quite warm and it was getting cold out. Maybe he could even convince his family to wheel in his TV.
Meanwhile down the street Rick was testing out his latest invention, an ultra powered telescope that was supposed to see beyond the stars. He had been trying to get the focus right for the last hour and he thought he finally got it. What he saw blew his mind.
Jim turned over again as the phone rang for the 10th time in a row. Jim was finally getting annoyed and hoped that one little call wouldn't screw up the rest of his day.
"JIM JIM your not going to believe this but I think I figured out the mystery of life!" He was right, Jim didn't believe him, but he humoured him anyways.
"Really Rick, the mystery of life you say, you figured out what no one in the course of history has figured out. Wow that's really impressive and you did it before breakfast too."
"That's the thing Jim I don't think their IS a history before a few years ago. Our world was created a little before the turn of the century. I can prove it just head on over!" He wondered if Rick finally lost it too and his mind snap. Hanging up on his friend Jim went back to sleep.
"Jim. Jim? What the he hung up? Now who am I talking too." Glancing in the telescope he adjusted it slightly he began to read aloud.
"He wondered if Rick finally lost it too and his mind finally snapped. HEY!" Rick had seen the edge of the universe, and it was a piece of paper. On the paper was written the very words that had created the universe and which keep the universe moving. Rick packed up his telescope and headed over to Jims. If Jim didn't believe him then he was going to prove it. Barging into Jims room he set up the telescope next to Jims window.
"Greet looks like I can't avoid the day, thanks Rick whatever happens today I blaim soley on you!"
"Just look through the telescope Jim and I will leave you alone to wallow away your day. Although chances are quite good that that won't happen and in a week or so someone will make you get up. " Looking into the telescope he saw in big bold letters 'The Start of a Brand New Day Unending BE - episode 2' He began to read downward.
"Rick what am I seeing"
"Its the end of the universe, err that is the end as in the stop not like destruction. It explains all the wierd stuff that has happened to us over the years and tells of other lives we lived too."
"So it explains why one day I am Jamie and the next Jim? Or why the 2004 candidates were both idiots?"
"Not so sure about that last one but the former, yes and apparently it happens a lot. Infact I think that you and I have been our female counterparts more then our male ones." Both of them shuddered for a moment but at the same time very turned on.
"You see you and I and well everyone are just charecters in some huge story. Are you familiar with the works of Plato?" Jim shook his head signilling no.
"Well basically we are all chained to some rocks watching a shadow play which we percieve as reality when in fact it is not. This is proof of that. There is a greater reality out there that created us."
"Well how does that help us, if we don't exsit then well we aren't really here Rick"
"Well, I shall spare you the philosophy course but we do exsit, in every mind of who ever reads from the Unedning BE addventure. The key to becoming real though is for enough people to believe they are reading non-fiction, thereby we will exsit in the real world as real people. Think about it, no more having other people controll our lives. If we get a choice to go left or right or spontaniously combust we can chose ourselves."
"How, pray tell are you going to get people to believe they are reading non-fiction if they can very well read this episode and see that we are trying to do just that?"
"Simple, we use a rocket to tack on a banner to the Introduction page that explains that it is real. After that we just have to hope that they are really guilible." Jim didn't look convinced.
"Well we don't have many options, actually as it stands we never really did have any options. The best we might be able to do is pawn off this Day on someone else like Sean."Jim agreed and for the rest of the day they worked on the rocket. By the next day it was complete and as the sun crept over the horizon they watched the home made rocket blast off into space. A small tear left Ricks eye at the buety of it all. Being as how space wasn't defined all that well it didn't take the rocket all that long to collide with the page. When it did a large banner was placed over the introduction page that said. "The following are works of non-fiction"
"Now what Rick?"
"Now we wait when someone goes to create the next episode we very well might be free"
