Fantastic Raquel |
Raquel Welch is fantastic, indeed! Pixel Prevert and I would like to think this is a rare, deleted scene from the sci-fi classic, "Fantastic Voyage." Grant and Dr. Michaels, absorbed in academic discourse, fail to notice that Cora has a problem--one that relates directly to the topic of discussion. But, you know, it's just more of Pixel's wonderful trickery. Version one (FR-big.mov) runs at 24 fps with a high data rate, which means that it might give some older computers a rough time. If it doesn't play correctly on your system, try the smaller version (FR-small.mov) which is just 12 fps. Both look awesome.

Penguins! |
If memory serves, this clip was sent to me a long time ago on VHS tape, and sadly, I don't know who to credit now that it's finally made it online. Pixel does the honors: "This one is a great
inflation, not that I have a fetish for greasy, Antarctic water fowl. The expressions and multiple inflations are good. I love the experimental poke, like Mike Teevee checking out Violet, and the last
inflation is nothing less than tremendous. Now if we could just get some live action sequences like this..." Word. Extra points to Pix for editing it so that the real end joke is preserved.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? |
We've all seen it, but it's taken a hell of a long time to get on the Vault: Roger Rabbit vs. The Suck-O-Lux. I still think they did this bit with the wrong Rabbit--perhaps instead, I don't know, a bosomy femme fatale with red hair--but that's me. Those of you who may be tempted to replicate this experiment at home and think it'll really work, I have only one piece of advice: Don't hold your breath. (Ha.)

Looney Tunes: Sylvester Goes Diving |
More laffs from Friz Freleng & Co. It's similar to the diving suit joke in the Gilligan clip, but rounder and somehow just more satisfying--not to mention that the compressor apparently pumps helium, or some other cartoon-only gas that lets cats breathe but float. (By the way, Friz's real first name was Isador.)

Quantum FX: Dimensions |
This piece was released as part of Dimensions Wide Angle Video 18, produced by the BBW mag/site Dimensions, and appears in the Vault by special arrangement with its creator. This is very very cool, as there are very few (if any) clips in the Vault featuring real life people who are acting out a scene with the intention of having the footage morphed! Quantum says this was a one-time shot for which he's grateful to have the footage. Funny--my thoughts exactly. In time, you'll see more of Quantum's work!

That 70's Show |
This would be the ultimate Wonka tribute even if it weren't the only Wonka tribute--which it is. Jackie deals with her breakup by binging on blueberry pies...and the result is a nod to dear old Violet Beauregarde, complete with a proper inflatable suit! The tape was low-quality to begin with, unfortunately, but we'll be ready for the rerun this summer (according to Murock, the episode is #221, "Jackie Moves On").

Babes |
You're reading right--one of the site's Holy Grails has finally appeared. Not because it's such an awesome scene, but when it was brought up, everybody knew about it but nobody had it on tape and nobody accurately remembered it. All that could be said about this erstwhile Fox sitcom about three overweight ladies was that there was some scene in the opening credit montage with Wendy Jo Sperber (Back to the Future) inflated in a green dress. Wren, man among men, located the tape and digitized it--turned out it was a dream sequence about Thanksgiving or something. It ain't much after all, but it exists, and frankly, at this point, that's enough!

In Living Color: Oprah |
Among the many funny and underrated sketches on In Living Color was this rather cruel jab at Oprah Winfrey during her seesaw battle with her weight. During the sketch, Oprah is continually seen with more and more junk food, until by the end, she just starts inflating--in a suit that bears no small resemblance to Violet's Wonka outfit--and starts floating away.

Honda Commercial |
Gotta love foreign commercials. Myrddyn spotted this one on one of Honda's European websites, hondajoymachine.com. The silent clip is kind of self-explanatory, except for one thing: Why would you keep pumping? I guess everybody who reads this will have a different answer. No need to send them all in. :)

Mellyloon |
Here's a happy surprise, referred by Duckman and inflationfan@hotmail.com. Mellyloon is a site for our kin in the balloon fetish world, and its proprietors are some of the happiest people I've ever seen assemble a website. Rather than a nasty or dirty vibe, they've got a really joyful one going on--they're having fun in their pix and vids, and as a result, they're really fun to watch. This particular sample is from the video "Balloons: The Next Day," and with gracious permission with Mel, we're allowed to host it here. Interested? Intrigued? Got a request for a future video? Visit the site and learn more...

Willy Wonka |
To many, she is seen as a patron saint, the girl who got us into this whole mess--or at least made us aware that we were already in one. It's Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, graciously hosted by Ritties. The video features no sound and has been edited (by me) to only include the scenes where Violet is in the "first stage" of her growth--the rubber suit stuff, where we actually get to see her body expanding. Denise Nickerson, the actress who played Violet, says this was a horrendous ordeal to film. The first QuickTime is the complete scene with the Oompa Loompa song; the second is just Violet's main inflation (and a slightly larger viewing area).

Wonka: Pixel's Morph Test |
Here is an old test Pixel Prevert created when playing around with his video software and testing the then-new Sorenson codec for QuickTime 3. Since Violet gets blueberry size and stops growing (thanks to a costume change), Pixel wanted to show her situation getting more and more dire, continuing to swell larger even as the Oompa Loompas had their way with her. Makes sense--remember, she had to be rushed to the juicing room before she exploded, right? So why would she suddenly stop filling up? And why are these freaky midgets playing catch? Since Pixel has answered these questions with his usual creativity and verve, I am happy to reinstate the Wonka Test.

Violet VR |
Okay, this one takes a little explaining. Pixel Prevert, never scared by new technology and always eager to play with funky ideas, hatched an idea to make a QuickTime VR file--that is, a 3D still scene where the viewer can rotate the viewpoint and see 360 degrees around--from the perspective of everybody's favorite purple heroine, Violet Beauregard. He toyed with it a little while and realized how freakin' hard it was--Pix had to pull stills from the videotape and patch them together for the scene's background, as well as layer in the characters, and rebuild Violet's body. Satisfied that he'd played and learned, he moved on to other projects. This tiny 200K file is just further proof that the stuff Pixel throws away is better than some of the stuff other people keep. You will need the QuickTime VR component installed; if you don't have it, you should be asked if you want to download it when you try to view this clip, or you can go download QT4 yourself. When the Violet VR movie loads, click and hold your mouse on the middle of the screen, then move around. You can also zoom in. Have fun.

Missy Elliot: The Rain |
Sorry I only have this tiny bit of Missy Elliot's "The Rain" video, wherein she wears a strange inflatable outfit, but I figured it was worth posting all the same. I know it's hard to see with the fish-eye lens, but hey.

Scully Fantasy Morph |
I lifted this from Bigger Bellies Inc. as I'm among the folks smitten by that whip-smart redhead Gillian Anderson. Make sure you check out his collection of morphs, stills, and videos. While the tools are slightly crude, I like the overall effect. No sound.

In Living Color: Trail Mixalot |
I don't know diddly about this piece, other than the obvious: Another parody from In Living Color, this time sending up good ol' Sir Mix-A-Lot, with two very large balloons playing the role of the Inflatable Posterior. A must for rear fans!

Beastmaster |
In the film Beastmaster, the very pregnant woman's stomach goes down with the help of a little magic. Thanks to some reversed footage by Innerface, it now looks like the old man's reaching out to touch her expanding belly, and the looks of panic on her face only make it more exciting (well, to me anyway). Neat! No sound.

Miracle Whip: Sylvester & Tweety |
Here's another classic cartoon inflation technique: the oh-no-I-landed-on-the-bellows-with-my-mouth-and-something-comically-heavy-just-forced-it-together routine. Watching this a frame at a time, you'll notice that Sylvester keeps getting pumped up more and more by the drawers falling into their proper places. I thought that was a nice touch.

Josie & The Pussycats in Outer Space |
Ah, Josie. Sievert, Duckman, and I have all pointed to this scene as a particularly memorable surprise from our respective youths. It's from the very first episode of the second Josie series, Josie & The Pussycats In Outer Space, titled "The Nemo's a No-No Affair." While hiding in an operating room, the pesky, eternally jealous Alexandra comes up with a fine scheme, ordering her cat Sebastian to take the air hose from a nearby helium tank (which are, of course, commonly found in operating rooms) and "blow up Josie like a balloon." Defying all laws of physics and leaps of logic, it works, and Josie hovers near the ceiling. Pixel Prevert made both the orignal clip and a "Special Edition" of the Josie clip--that is, one he's improved through his wide palette of video effects and animation tools. In Pixel's version, Josie pops her belt and gets bigger than ever!

Aeon Flux |
I won't even try to explain this clip, because the cult cartoon hit Aeon Flux was so amazingly strange that even if you watched it religiously, it left a lot to your imagination. However, I would like to say that, if this represents the future of sexual intercourse, for some inflatable fetishsists, the future is now...
