I've been doing BE for a while now, and PSP is all I've used until Power
Goo came along. So here's what I've come up with so far.
First, use the freehand selection tool to select just the area that you
wnat to BE(usually just the breasts!!!) Make sure that you don't select any
of the surrounding background area as this will effect the BE in later
steps. A trick that I learned is to zoom way in on just part of the breasts
and make your selection 1 section at a time. You can continue a selection
after letting up off the mouse button by pressing the shift key when you
start to make another selection. Keep moving around the picture, selecting
the breasts piece by piece using the shift key until you have 1 selection
that is just the BE section. Once the breasts are selected, go Edit/Copy
(or ctrl C). This copies the selected image to the windows clipboard.
The second step is where you use your imagination. While the selection is
still showing on the image, use the shift button and start selecting an
area around the previous selection. This new selection will usually go way
over the background. What you are doing is selecting the area the the
enlarged breasts will cover. Don't be scared to select over places that you
think need to be in front of the breasts, you can copy and paste those in
later.
Now with the NEW breast area selected, go Edit/Paste/Into Selection (or
ctrl L). This will enlarge the breasts into the NEW selection. You may want
to repeat this process several times, enlarging only slightly each time you
make a pass. There is usually going to be a problem with the final paste,
as PSP only enlarges to the widest and tallest points of the NEW selection.
You will see that there will be areas around the NEW breasts that don't
belong. These areas were the background from around the original breasts.
Don't worry about this just yet. With the NEW, bigger breasts still
selected, this is the time to use any filters to make the NEW part of the
image look like the rest of it(soften, despeckle, whatever) Once the
filters are used, NOW IS THE TIME TO SAVE YOUR WORK AS A NEW FILE!!!!!
Saving as a new file is critical to the clean up phase of your work. Now
you will have a file open with you new file name, go back and open the old
file. Select the new file and go along the NEW breasts with the freehand
selection tool, selecting all the unwanted stuff that wound up around the
breasts. It doesn't matter if you select just the unwanted stuff, or it AND
the background around it, so long as you DON'T select any of the new
breast. Once you have all the unwanted area selected, go to Selections/Save
and save the selection. Give it a name and hit OK.
Now select the old (original) file and go to Selections/Load and load the
selection you just saved. With the selection loaded in the old pic, go
Edit/Copy (ctrl C), select the new pic, and with the selection still there,
go Edit/Paste/Into Selection (ctrl L). If you accidentally unselected the
image before this step, just reload the saved selection file. You will see
that you now have the background around the NEW breasts that belongs.
This is the perfect time to put anything back in front of the breasts that
you feel might add to their realism. Sometimes, just plain big breasts
aren't as convincing (<-SP?) as if you put something in front of them (like
an arm, or chair, or......whatever was in the picture, you get the idea)
Some people like to use the feather feature when doing all of their
selecting, but I've had more luck by just using the soften retouch tool
with a size of 1 an opacity of about 60, zoom in on the edges of the new
breasts, and running over the edges with it. This blends the new breasts
with the rest of the pic.
From here, its just a matter of personal taste. Try different filters, try
enlarging 1 breast at a time for some pics, just be creative, but most
importantly, have fun.
Hope to see some work from you guys soon,
Good Luck,
Mad Max.
