This has caused alot of controversy. Many people feel that it is wrong to modify another artists work, others think that they modified a photo that they don't own the rights to so why shouldn't their pic be modified?
This comes down to Common Curtesy. Artists spend a great deal of time to modify a picture and add their creative flair to it. They feel it is defacing their hard work to modify their art or that you have no respect for their body of work.
This also covers Coloring a B & W drawing done by an artist. Some don't mind, some don't care, some are flatterd and others get upset.
Here are some guidelines if you modify an artists piece:
- Ask the artist if you can.
- Ask the artist before you post it.
- Modify it and don't post it.
- Don't remove their logo, just add your own.
- Don't modify a pic and ONLY leave the artists logo on.
Removing someone's logo and claiming a work as your own is a rotten thing to do and you will more than likly be caught and flamed. Out of common curtesy you should also not remove the scanner of the pictures name or logo, unless it interferes with the picture. This also goes with removing the logo / url of a site that created an image/photo.
Some morphers may get even more pissed if somebody posts re-morphs of their morphs with their original signatures attached.
